Operational Regulations for Nippon Cataloging Rules

Operational Regulations for Nippon Cataloging Rules are detailed rules to apply "Nippon Cataloging Rules" (NCR) in the NDL. We started to apply NCR Revised Edition in 1998, NCR 2nd Revised Edition in 2002, and NCR 1987 3rd Revised Edition (NCR87R3) in 2006.
The NDL, as a national bibliographic agency, reviews the Operational Regulations for NCR to promote standardization, with the adoption of the MARC21 format and the change of internal cataloging system from January 2012.

Application policy

The NDL adopts the main rules of NCR87R3 as a principle, but sometimes changes the rules and uses an alternative method. Please refer to each item of the Operational Regulations for NCR for more content.
