2015-7-22 The Digital Library from the Meiji Era (Kindai Digital Library) database will close and be integrated into the National Diet Library Digital Collections.

The National Diet Library has announced that the Digital Library from the Meiji Era (Kindai Digital Library) (http://kindai.ndl.go.jp/) database will close at the end of May 2016 (TBD). The Digital Library from the Meiji Era offers online access to digitized images of books and periodicals published after the mid-19th century. Digitized books and periodicals available from the Digital Library from the Meiji Era are also available via the NDL Digital Collections (http://dl.ndl.go.jp/). Although the Digital Library from the Meiji Era database is closing, our staff will continue their work to make digitized images available online by solving copyright issues related to books published before 1945.

Thank you for your continued patronage of the Digital Library from the Meiji Era since its launch in 2002.

URLs to digital material in the Digital Library from the Meiji Era will be redirected to identical material in the NDL Digital Collections which will thus remain accessible. We recommend, however, that all links be revised to access the NDL Digital Collections directly, as shown below.

The URL http://kindai.ndl.go.jp/ will redirect to http://dl.ndl.go.jp/.
Note: There is no need to revise subdirectories (info:ndljp/pid/XXXXXXX) in the URL.
