2018-11-14 The Great East Japan Earthquake Archive Symposium FY 2018: "Conveying records related to earthquakes: natural disasters and disaster prevention education" will be held at Tohoku University on January 11, 2019.

The National Diet Library and the International Research Institute of Disaster Science (IRIDeS), Tohoku University, will hold The Great East Japan Earthquake Archive Symposium. In the first part, the state of damage from and the collection of records related to earthquakes which occurred this year, the Earthquake in Osaka-Fu Hokubu and the Hokkaido Eastern Iburi Earthquake, will be introduced. In the second part, reports of case studies will be given from the perspectives of both users and providers of records related to earthquakes, focusing on disaster archives and disaster prevention education. In the third part, there will be a discussion about the significance of conveying records related to earthquakes, and of using these records in disaster prevention education, and the problems involved.
