Visitors Entrances
Visitors entrances to the Main Building and Annex of the NDL are on the east side of the facilities.
*If this is your first visit to the NDL or you do not have a Registered-User Card (IC card), please enter the entrance of the Annex.

Library Cards
Most of the holdings of the NDL are in closed stacks where users cannot enter. User registration is required for using materials in the closed stacks.
Visiting the NDL as a registered user
- People who have a Registered-User Card (IC card)
Enter the NDL with your Registered-User Card. (No further applications are required.) - People who do not have a Registered-User Card (IC card)
Please apply for user registration at the User Registration Counter in the Annex.

Please apply for a One Day User Card at the User Registration Counter in the Annex.
* People with a One Day User Card are limited to using electronic resources and some materials on the open shelves of the Special Materials Rooms. Please note that a one-day user cannot request materials in the closed stacks, and other services only for registered users will not be provided.
Depositing your belongings in a locker
Some items, such as bags larger than B5 paper size, cannot be brought into the library (PDF: 92.3KB), so please deposit baggage in a locker before entering the NDL. To use a locker, you need to put in a 100-yen coin. The coin will be returned when you open the locker again.
Please carry valuables, notebooks, or other necessary items in a transparent bag.
Please put your umbrella in an umbrella stand.
