• 国立国会図書館ジャンル・形式用語作業指針 (National Diet Library Genre/Form Terms Cataloging Manual) (in Japanese) is updated.
  National Diet Library Genre/Form Terms "議会資料 (Gikai shiryo : Legislative materials)", "児童図書 (Jido tosho : Children's book)", "漫画 (Manga : Comics)" and "楽譜 (Gakufu : Notated music)" began to be assigned to the foreign materials (books and non-books) in March 2024.
• JAPAN/MARC MARC21フォーマットマニュアル (2021年1月) (JAPAN/MARC MARC21 Format Manual (January 2021 version)) (in Japanese) is updated.
  The main changes in the manual are as follows:
  • Field 700, 710, 730, 800 and 810 of JAPAN/MARC MARC21 Format Manual for Monographs and Serials
  • Field 010, 024 and 670 of JAPAN/MARC MARC21 Format Manual for Authorities

• 基本方針 > 国立国会図書館書誌データ等提供方針 (Basic Policy > Policy for Providing the National Diet Library's Bibliographic Records and Other Data) (in Japanese) is updated.
• 全国書誌のあゆみ (Brief history of the Japanese National Bibliography) (in Japanese) is updated.

The main changes in the manual are about expanding identifier input: fields 010 and 024 of JAPAN/MARC MARC21 format for Authorities of Personal Names were added in April 2023, and field 010 for those of Works in July 2023.

The changes in the two manuals are about the following.

The new National Diet Library Genre/Form Terms "楽譜 (Gakufu : Notated music)", "コンピュータゲーム (Kompyuta gemu : Computer game)" and "アニメーション (Animeshon : Animation)" were added. The National Diet Library Genre/Form Terms "漫画 (Manga : Comics)" and "議会資料 (Gikai shiryo : Legislative materials)" began to be assigned to the serials.

• The Japanese Periodicals Index (Online Periodicals), approximately 24,000 records, is available on NDL Online and NDL Search.

• 文字の取扱い基準に基づく対応を行った文字一覧 (List of Characters that Require Special Handling) (in Japanese) is updated.

  The National Diet Library has added rules for works in whole/part relationship, and rules for aggregate works.
