Cataloging Tools and Resources

The National Diet Library Law was amended in April 2000, so that the NDL began to acquire offline electronic publications according to its legal deposit system in October 2000. The NDL has formulated a policy to catalog them efficiently.

The NDL changed the scope of materials cataloged as serials in January 2003, in terms of the frequency of publication and their type.

The NDL has the guidelines for choosing what sort of periodicals and of articles carried in them to index for the Japanese Periodicals Index.
