Data Transmission Service for Persons with Print Disabilities

This service provides data for persons with print disabilities to institutions and to individual users, including persons with print disabilities, through the internet. This data is collected by the National Diet Library (NDL) from various institutions or prepared by the NDL. This service is available through the "Material search for persons with disabilities" option in NDL Search.

The NDL, one of the Authorized Entities of Japan, offers accessible works to qualified persons with print disabilities and Authorized Entities as stipulated by the Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired or Otherwise Print Disabled (Marrakesh Treaty) (external website), please also see the following pages.

1. Data for Persons with Print Disabilities

Data for persons with print disabilities has been produced for people who have difficulties in reading standard printed materials due to visual impairment etc., based on the Restriction of Rights (Article 37 of the Copyright Act of Japan), etc.

  • Data for persons with print disabilities produced by libraries and collected by the NDL.

3. Users of this service

Persons who have difficulties in reading standard printed materials due to visual impairment (blindness or low vision), dyslexia, physical disability of upper limbs, etc. (persons with print disabilities that is the same as "Beneficiary Persons" defined in Article 3 of the Marrakesh Treaty). Users who reside outside of Japan shall be limited to persons who reside in the Marrakesh Treaty countries.
