Description
After studying under Katsukawa Shunsho, he learned art techniques from the Kano school, Sumiyoshi school and Rin school as well as Chinese and western techniques and established his own original art style. The founder of the Katsushika school. He created a variety of ukiyo-e (pictures of the floating world) including landscapes, flower and bird images, beautiful women images and caricatures. He was known as a very eccentric person who moved 93 times and changed his pen name over 30 times throughout his life.
