- Description
- A disciple of Utagawa Toyokuni I. He mostly created yakusha-e (actor prints) and bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) however during the mid Tenpo Era (1830-1844) he also worked on landscapes. In 1844, he took on the pen name of his teacher Toyokuni and called himself Toyokuni II, however because Toyoshige was already known as Toyokuni II, he instead came to be known as Toyokuni III.
