- Description
- A disciple of Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Worked on musha-e (prints of samurai or military subjects), kacho-ga (paintings of flowers and birds), illustrations for kusa-zoshi (a generic name for picture novels) and other genres. Worked on a large number of Yokohama-e (prints depicting foreigners at the port of Yokohama) as a pioneer in the genre.
