Diplomat. Born in Yamaguchi. In 1895, he graduated from the Imperial University and entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1897, he worked at the legation in Germany. Thereafter, he successively served as secretary at the legations in Belgium, Korea and the United States. In 1906, after the Russo-Japanese War, he became the consul-general in Mukden (present Shenyang). Later, he served as Director-General, International Trade Bureau in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His death at the age of 44 cut short a distinguished career.
