Physicist. Born in Aichi. He graduated from the First Higher Middle School and the Imperial University. In 1903, he became a Doctor of Science. After studying in Europe from 1907 to 1911, he returned to Japan to become a professor at the Tohoku Imperial University. Honda is famous for inventing high-performance magnetic steels including KS Magnetic Steel in 1917 and New KS Magnetic Steel in 1933. He became the president of the Tohoku Imperial University in 1931. He received the first Order of Culture in 1937.
