An entrepreneur who was born in 1870. He joined Mitsui bussan (Mitsui & Co., Ltd.) in 1890, was appointed executive director in 1918, and became managing director in 1924. He was involved in the establishment of both Toyo reiyon (Toray Industries, Inc.) and Sanki kogyo (Sanki Engineering Co., Ltd.), thereby contributing significantly to the growth of Mitsui bussan. Following his retirement from Mitsui in 1934, he was named president of Toyo Takushoku (Oriental Development Company).
