Description

Entered the Faculty of Law of the Imperial University of Kyoto and studied with Hajime Kawakami. He was arrested in the so-called April 16 Incident (arrests of Communists on April 16, 1929). He was released the following year. He established Minophagen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and assumed its presidency in 1938. He joined the Nihon Jiyu-to (Japan Liberal Party) in 1947 and was elected a member of the House of Representatives in 1952. He was successively elected ten times in total. He served as the Vice-Minister of the Administrative Management Agency in 1955. He was instrumental in the realization of disarmament and normalization of Sino-Japanese diplomatic relations as a dissident group within the Liberal Democratic Party. He left the party after the Lockheed scandal and resigned as a member of the House of Representatives in 1976. He was elected a member of the House of Councillor s in 1980 as an independent candidate. He retired from politics in 1992.
