Catholic priest. At the Imperial University of Tokyo, he studied Greek philosophy and medieval philosophy under Dr. Raphael von Koeber before going overseas to study, but then returned to Japan after becoming a clergyman. As the director of Koyama Fukusei Hospital in Shizuoka Prefecture, he devoted himself to treating leprosy while also working to explain and introduce Catholic theology, patrology and scholasticism. Pioneer of Catholic theological studies in Japan.
