Composer and violinist. After graduating from Tokyo Music School(later, the Tokyo University of the Arts) in 1917, he continued to work as the school’s chief violinist on commission. In 1920, he became a teacher at Tokyo Prefectural 3rd Girl’s High School, and acted as a composer. In the Showa period, he presented works on NHK radio’s contemporary music time. After joining the magazine Akai tori in 1921, he began composing nursery rhymes in earnest. He composed more than 300 songs, including “Yurikago-no-uta” (words by KITAHARA Hakushu) and “Oyama-no-taisho” (words by SAIJO Yaso). He lost his eldest son in the war and died in despair in 1948. His elder brothers were music educators KUSAKAWA Nobuo and KUSAKAWA Tomotada.
