Kao Corporation (Japanese chemical and cosmetics company) founder. He moved to Tokyo in 1885. He started Nagase Shoten (later Kao) in 1887, and started manufacturing and selling Kao Soap in 1890. He established a directly managed plant at Mukojima in 1902. In 1911, he reorganized Nagase Shoten as Nagase Shokai Co., Ltd.
