Agricultural chemist. He entered the Imperial University of Tokyo College of Agriculture in 1914 and became a research student at Riken (Institute of Physical and Chemical Research) in 1920, working on research on oil and fat composition under SUZUKI Umetaro. He succeeded in concentrating and extracting vitamin A in 1922. The extracted vitamin A was commercialized under the name “Riken Vitamin”. He was awarded the Imperial Academy Prize for his achievements.
