Description

Ornithologist and zoologist. Graduated from Dept. of Zoology, College of Science, Imperial University of Tokyo. Doctor of Science. Born as the eldest son of TAKATSUTASA Michihiro. In 1918, his father died and Nobusuke took over as head of the family, becoming a Duke and a member of the House of Peers. He founded the Ornithological Society of Japan in 1912 and became its second president. In 1944, he became the 5th chief priest of Meiji Jingu Shrine, and in 1946 he became the head of the Association of Shinto Shrines. His nickname is “Duke of Birds”.
