Documents with Commentaries Part 4 Deliberations in the Imperial Diet
The subcommittee of the Committee on Bill for Revision of the Imperial Constitution held 13 closed meetings from July 25 to August 20 1946 where they hammered out amendments proposed by various parliamentary groups. Tatsuo Sato, the Vice Director General of the Bureau of Legislation, was requested to attend the meetings where he assisted with legislative technicalities as an unofficial supporting member. Sato's handwritten notes can be seen throughout the "Bill for Revision of Imperial Constitution," which is exhibited here.
