Is there anything I cannot bring into the Library? What should I do with things I cannot bring inside?

Tokyo Main Library
Prohibited items are listed under "1. Prohibited items" in the "Instructions for the On-site Use of the National Diet Library." Please check these guidelines.
Please store any such items in the coin lockers either in the Main Building or the Annex.
Kansai-kan Library
Please refer to "Taking belongings" within the "Information for Visitors."
Please store any prohibited items in the coin lockers near the elevators.

Can I bring in semi-transparent bags or similar?

Tokyo Main Library
Any opaque bags (including bags, paper bags, envelopes, etc.) of B5 size or larger are prohibited.
It may be possible to bring a computer case in. Please inquire when entering the Library.
Kansai-kan Library
Any opaque bags (including bags, paper bags, envelopes, etc.) of B5 size or larger are prohibited.

Can I bring in my own computer, tablet device, or mobile phone? Can I use them inside the Library?
A
You are permitted to bring in your own computer, tablet device, or mobile phone and use it in the Tokyo Main Library and the Kansai-kan Library. There are seats designed for device use in the Reading Rooms and Special Materials Rooms which are fitted with power outlets.
When using these devices, please be aware that there are restrictions on places of use, as well as restrictions on use of cameras, scanners, etc.
