The Tokyo Main Library has the Music and Audio-Visual Materials Room, which holds video materials with subtitles or Japanese sign language.

1. Library Support

Ear symbol

Writing symbol
The ear symbol and the writing symbol are displayed at counters where written communication is available.
In addition, communication boards (picture cards to point at) are available at the General Information Desks for both the Main Building and the Annex.
If you have any concerns about using the library, please do not hesitate to ask at any counter. The library staff will assist you with entry procedures, searching and requesting materials, etc. Necessary assistance is also provided for the use of the cafeteria (6th floor of the Main Building) and the coffee shops (3rd floor of the Main Building and 1st floor of the Annex).
2. Hearing Dogs
You can enter the library accompanied by assistance dogs, such as hearing dogs.
3. Support Tools for Hearing Impaired Visitors
3-1. Writing Board for Communication
Writing boards for communication are available at the Entrance Counters for both the Main Building and the Annex. Please ask at either of them whenever needed.

3-2. Audio Induction Loop and Hearing-Assistive Speaker
Most of the counters are equipped with hearing loops (audio induction loops).
There are also hearing-assistive speakers available at the General Information Desks for both the Main Building and the Annex, and the User Registration Counter in the Annex.
