Film director and producer. He started attending Senbonza Theater from a young age and later became the head of the theater. At the request of YOKOTA Einosuke, he shot the moving picture Battle of Honnoji Temple in 1908, and since then worked as a producer, director, and scriptwriter for numerous films. Established Makino Educational Film Production Company in 1921 and Makino Production in 1925. He trained Japan’s first movie star, ONOE Matsunosuke, as well as actors such as BANDO Tsumasaburo and KATAOKA Chiezo, and directors and screenwriters like KINUGASA Teinosuke.
