The basics of children's literature: Have you read these books? ―For children in the higher grades of elementary school

Introduction

In this video, we will consider the characteristics of children aged 8 to 12 years and recommend books for them to read. Although children in the middle and upper grades at elementary school tend to lose interest in reading, it is an age when, ideally, they should be exposed to books as much as possible as they grow up. To that end, let's familiarize ourselves with interesting children's books, so that we may convey that interest to our children.
The content of this video is based on an ILCL lecture series on children's literature entitled "The Basics of Children's Literature: From Picture Books to Young Adult Fiction" that was given on November 11 and 12, 2019, by Ms. Sumiko SHIRAI, professor at Shirayuri University and visiting researcher at the National Diet Library.
Note: The lecturer's titles are as they were at the time of recording.
