Access to the Tokyo Main Library is currently restricted either to those who acquire reservations via the lottery reservation system or to patrons with a Registered User card who enter the library between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Starting Monday, October 4, the morning hours will be expanded by 30 minutes, and patrons with a Registered User card will be allowed to enter the library without a reservation between 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. or after 4:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday. There is no time limit for patrons who enter the library at those times.

  • Admission will be restricted as necessary when the library is crowded.
  • The Rare Books and Old Materials Room and the Modern Japanese Political History Materials Room both close at 5:00 p.m. Call-slips are accepted until 4:00 p.m.

Admission to the library between 10:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (or between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. starting October 4) from Monday to Friday or on a Saturday will still require a reservation acquired via the request form on the following webpage.
