2022-2-25 Approximately 500 sound recordings of the Historical Recordings Collection (Rekion) are newly available online.

On February 25, the National Diet Library (NDL) made approximately 500 sound recordings of the Historical Recordings Collection (Rekion) available for streaming online.

Examples of sound recordings:

• 『和歌朗読：万葉傑作集』
  …In this recording, Showa-era poet Imai Kuniko reads aloud the poems of the Manyoshu.
• 『落語：からし医者（一）』
  …One of Katsura Harudanji's best known rakugo performances.
• 『ハーモニカ：スイートホーム』
  …A arrangement for harmonica of the popular song "Home, Sweet Home," which is known in Japan as "Hanyuu no yado."
• 『連合艦隊解散式訓示（上）』
  …Address by Admiral Togo Heihachiro upon dissolution of the Combined Fleet after the Russo–Japanese War.

The total number of recordings contained in Rekion is about 50,000 items. Approximately 6,000 of them are provided on the internet, while others are available only on the premises of the NDL and about 330 Rekion partner libraries in Japan and overseas.
