2023-2-3 100,000 books newly added to the National Diet Library Digital Collections

Roughly 100,000 books were added to the National Diet Library Digital Collections on February 3.

100,000 out of about 300,000 domestically published books catalogued from 1969 to 1995 were added. They were digitized with the supplementary budget for FY2021. Of the remaining 200,000 books, 100,000 will be added at the end of February and 100,000 at the end of March. Currently, all of these books are available only at the National Diet Library, but out-of-print or otherwise difficult-to-obtain materials will be available via the Digitized Contents Transmission Service for Libraries and for Individuals after January 2024.

Please note that the added materials are not targets of full text search. In the future, we plan to gradually generate the text data for search through OCR processing and make the text searchable.
