MATSUSHITA began an apprenticeship at the age of 9 in Osaka in 1904. In 1910, he joined Osaka Dento (later Kansai Electric Power) and devised an improved socket in 1917. The following year, he established Matsushita Electric Co., Ltd. In 1935, he reorganized the company into Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (later Panasonic Hoidings), and assumed the position of president. He expanded his business with his own management methods, such as the divisional system, affiliated store system, and fixed price sales system, and was called the “the god of management”. He also established the PHP Institute and the Matsushita Institute of Government and Management, and focused on human resource development and social contribution.
