Description

Master of Arisugawa-style calligraphy. The first son of Prince Arisugawa Tsunahito. He inherited the house of the imperial prince in 1845. He served as a calligraphy instructor for Sachinomiya (later, the Meiji Emperor), Kokuji Goyogakari (a general official of the Imperial Household in charge of state affairs), and, after the Meiji Restoration, Jingi Jimusotoku (the governor-general of Shinto worship). President of Koten Kokyujo (later Kokugakuin University). The original document of the Charter Oath of Five Articles was written by Prince Takahito.
