Storage Annex Closed Stacks

The closed stacks of the Storage Annex have a capacity of about 5 million books.
The long-term preservation of important materials requires that, just like the main library, the stacks be kept at a temperature of 22 degrees C and a humidity of 55%, which is optimal for storing library materials. A double buffer zone between the outer wall and the stacks is in place to prevent outside air temperature from affecting the stacks.
The majority of the stacks feature manual handle compact shelving. The fixed shelves are equipped with a seismic fall prevention device, that actuates a safety bar to prevent the materials from falling when a seismic intensity of 4 or higher is detected. In addition, the side panels of the bookshelves are perforated to improve ventilation and suppress the growth of mold.
