Special Materials Rooms & Reading Rooms

The Special Purpose Reading Room (Books) is for using loose-leaf materials, materials in microform, damaged materials, materials that can be easily scattered and some of the collections.

• This is a reading room for using materials available only in this room.
• Some materials require special permission for use.
• NDL Search does not allow you to search part of the collection or the content of each material in microform. To request these materials, you must look up the call number, reel number, etc. of the material you wish to view in the catalog in this room.
• Materials are to be used only in the room, except in special cases, such as when they are brought out to be copied.
• Some of the materials cannot be photocopied. For details, please ask at the counter. For details on the photoduplication service, please see Photoduplication Service at the Tokyo Main Library.
• If you have any questions about how to use our materials or how to search for the materials you want, please ask at the counter.
